5th – 8th January 2021
We are excited to invite you to our 2021 AGM and 50th Anniversary Celebrations! Due to obvious reasons we can’t hold the meeting in person, but with the support of the Geological Soviety of London we are going all virtual this year. On positive consequence of this is that registration is only £10, and even free if you are a student.
This years program doesn’t have to hide either. The meeting’s kicking off with a virtual fieldtrip to Rhoscolyn on Anglesesy in the morning, led by Geoff Lloyd from University of Leeds, followed by our 50th Anniversary Celebrations in the afternoon. Here we will explore some of the key themes in structural geology through history and give an outlook into the future of our field. This is rounded up by a few (online) drinks , and a keynote and panel discussion by Prof Iain Stewart about “The role of Structural Geology in a NetZero World” in the evening.
The remaining 3 days will offer a more typical TSG vibe with talks and poster presentations running from 13.00 to 17.30 offering plenty time for discussions, including a remembrance session for the late Patience Cowie.
- Tuesday: Virtual Field Trip – 50th Anniversary – Iain Stewart Keynote
- Wednesday: Fault Zones and Fault Growth – Fractures and Fluids – Rift Basins
- Thursday: Patience Cowie Remembrance Session – Active Tectonics
- Friday: Annual Group Meeting – Strain & Microstructures – Orogenesis – Geo-Resources and CO2 Storage
